UN Peacebuilding Fund programming in Sudan
The PBF works across pillars and supports integrated UN responses to fill critical gaps; respond quickly and with flexibility to peacebuilding opportunities; and catalyse processes and resources in a risk-tolerant fashion.
The PBF’s overall strategic vision in Sudan continues to be guided by the Joint PBF-Sudan Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) Strategic Results Framework (SRF), whose purpose is to ensure an integrated and coordinated UN approach to peace-making and peacebuilding in Sudan and bring the investments of these two funds under a shared strategic chapeau with three overarching outcomes: 1) stabilization of conflict hotspots, 2) strengthening of Sudan’s “infrastructure for peace” and 3) advancement of political processes and implementation of peace agreements.
Since 2018, the PBF has approved over $64 million in funding to Sudan to support key peacebuilding priorities including durable solutions, rule of law, local peacebuilding, and women’s and youth empowerment. The PBF has ten active projects in Sudan totalling $33.8 million, nine completed projects, and one in the pipeline.
