How radio supported climate adaptation in Sudan during COVID-19
12 February 2023
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and partners used radio as a tool to continue delivering project activities safely.
In April 2020, UNEP and Practical Action El Fasher-based project teams, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Forest National Corporation and the Agricultural Research Centre, broadcast a series of climate-resilient agricultural packages from radio stations as part of the Wadi El Ku Catchment Management project in Sudan.
With a reach of more than 6000 individuals, the programme disseminated messages covering all stages of agriculture, from land preparation to harvesting and crop storage. It also provided vital information on health protection measures for the communities living along the Wadi el Ku.
